Product Description
Benfothiamine:Benfothiamine is a synthetic derivative & Benfothiamine (VitaminB1) which is a lipid soluble form of Vitamin B1. Alpha lipoic acid:is a coenzyme essential for energy production, a superb antioxidant that recycles vitamin C,D and enzymatic antioxidant glutathione. It is anti hyperglycemic which can increase glucose disposal. Mecobalamin:one of the active form of vitamin B12 which has role in the formation of myelin sheath and regeneration of nerve cells. Inositol:Vitamin B8 Inositol is another B complex factor.Inositol level prevents the decrease in motor nerve conduction that results from degeneration of nerve insulation in diabetes. Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) :It is an essential coenzyme in the conversion of the amino acid tryptophan to niacin. Pyridoxine also plays an important role in the body's metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. The synthesis of unsaturated fatty acids requires pyridoxine. Energy cannot be produced for the cells without this vitamin. pyridoxine deficiency can cause harm to dendrites, dendrites are the parts of nerve cells that carry impulses from one brain cell to another

Mechanism of Action

Benfothiamine:It has the ability to inhibit the three major pathways (AGE, PKC & Hexosamine) simultaneously. Hence clinically very useful in preventing the development and progression of Diabetic Complications .Best suitable for therapeutic use owing to its excellent absorption characteristics. Most effective in Small daily doses, either in combination or in monotherapy. Alpha Lipoic Acid:Reduces Neuropathic symptoms like pain, paresthesia and numbness.Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful natural antioxidant. Methylcobalamin:is one of the two coenzyme forms of vitamin B12. Evidence indicates this form of vitamin B12, in addition to having a theoretical advantage over cyanocobalamin, actually has some metabolic and therapeutic applications not shared by the other forms of vitamin B12.

General Pharmacology

Benfothiamine: It has the ability to inhibit the three major pathways (AGE, PKC & Hexosamine) simultaneously. Hence clinically very useful in preventing the development and progression of Diabetic Complications .Best suitable for therapeutic use owing to its excellent absorption characteristics. Most effective in Small daily doses, either in combination or in monotherapy
Pharmacokinetic data of orally administered lipid-soluble thiamine analogues like benfotiamine is absorbed much better than water-soluble thiamine salts: maximum plasma levels of thiamine are about 5 times higher after benfotiamine, the bioavailability is at maximum about 3.6 times as high as that of thiamine hydrochloride and better than other lipophilic thiamine derivates. The physiological activity (alphaETK) increased only after benfotiamine was given. Due to its excellent pharmacokinetic profile benfotiamine should be preferred in treatment of relevant indications.

Alpha Lipoic Acid:

Reduces Neuropathic symptoms like pain, paresthesia and numbness. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful natural antioxidant. It has been used to improve diabetic neuropathies and has reduced pain in several studies. Supplementing with Alpha Lipoic Acid for six months has been found to reverse the cause of diabetic nerve damage and improve this painful condition. In double-blind research, 600 mg per day helps reduce nerve damage in people with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (IDDM and NIDDM).

Mecobalamin:

Methylcobalamin is one of the two coenzyme forms of vitamin B12. Evidence indicates this form of vitamin B12, in addition to having a theoretical advantage over cyanocobalamin, actually has some metabolic and therapeutic applications not shared by the other forms of vitamin B12. This monograph provides an overview of the pharmacokinetics of methylcobalamin, and will highlight the potential therapeutic relevance for Bell's palsy, cancer, diabetic neuropathy, eye function, heart rate variability, HIV, homocysteinemia, male impotence, and sleep disorders.
